To promote cultural integration across different regions, we have created a variety of tour routes to cater to different needs. Three festival exploration tours covering Chinese, Indian, and Muslim cultures provide a chance to experience the celebratory atmosphere. During the trips, visitors can interact with locals, taste local cuisine, visit scenic spots, learn about the history and culture, and enjoy unforgettable travel experiences. We aim to showcase the unique charm of the Greater Kreta Ayer and let everyone appreciate it.

The Odyssey of History and Gastronomy

This journey through time and taste, a stroll through this route allows visitors to experience the interplay between past and present, tradition and innovation through ornate temples, traditional shophouses, vibrant festivals, delicious food and morden conveniences.

Chinese Festival Discovery Tour

This tour takes visitors on a cultural immersion experience, showcasing the vibrant festivals and traditions that have shaped the Chinese community in Singapore. From the colorful and lively celebrations of Chinese New Year to the solemn and reflective observances of Qing Ming Festival, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of the significance and meaning behind each festival.

Muslim Festival Discovery Tour

The route features the historic Masjid Jamae, mesmerising sights and sounds and mouth-watering halal cuisine. As visitors stroll through the maze of streets, they can get an interactive feel of Singapore's Muslim history and the sacred and solemn mosques.

Carnival

​The carnival provides a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the rich cultural heritage of Singapore's Chinatown. Harvest Festival - A traditional celebration of the harvest in various cultures. Thaipusam - A Hindu festival dedicated to the deity Lord Murugan. Vesak Day - A Buddhist festival commemorating the birth, enlightenment, and death of Gautama Buddha. Chinese New Year - Celebrated by the Chinese community to mark the beginning of the lunar new year. Food Festival - A general term for festivals celebrating food and culinary traditions. National Day - Singapore's National Day, marking its independence from Malaysia on August 9, 1965. Hari Raya Aidilfitri - A Muslim festival marking the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Diwali - A Hindu festival of lights symbolizing the victory of light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. Christmas - A Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. Hanukkah - A Jewish festival commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem and the miracle of the oil that lasted eight days. Firewalking Festival - A Hindu festival in which devotees walk over hot coals to fulfill vows and express gratitude to the gods. Mid-Autumn Festival - A Chinese festival celebrating the harvest and the moon, marked by the consumption of mooncakes. Dragon Boat Festival - A traditional Chinese festival commemorating the life and death of the famous Chinese scholar Qu Yuan, featuring dragon boat races. Chingay Parade - An annual street parade in Singapore showcasing the rich, vibrant cultural diversity of the country. These festivals and events demonstrate the cultural diversity and harmony in Singapore, where people from different backgrounds and religions celebrate and appreciate each other's customs and traditions.

Operation & Management

The conservation and regeneration of Singapore Greater Kreta Ayer area is a complex undertaking that involves many different aspects, including urban planning, heritage preservation, community engagement, and economic development. To achieve these objectives, it is important for various government departments and authorities to work together, each contributing their expertise and resources towards the overall goal of creating a sustainable, vibrant, and culturally rich neighborhood. By involving different stakeholders, including the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA), National Heritage Board (NHB), Singapore Tourism Board (STB), and various grassroots organizations, it can be achieved in a holistic and collaborative manner, ensuring the preservation of the area's unique cultural heritage while also promoting its economic and social vitality.
